Hi, as you probably already know, my name is James Lewis, and I am a Front End Developer with some back end knowledge living in Sittingbourne and currently working in Maidstone for Submission Technology. Please feel free to take a look at what they have to say about me on the Team page.
I am looking for a role mainly in front end development but also looking to increase my knowledge of back end development.
When I am not at work I also do a little freelance work under the name of Dynamic Carrots.
Submission Technology is an online marketing and lead generation company
We create websites that get a large amount of traffic driven to them to create leads for our clients promotional campaigns. Our clients include Sky, Ladbrookes and Amazon.
The support side of my role was to ensure all business systems where running smoothly. This would be SIP phone systems, company email clients and network file servers for over 55 people.
The development side of my role covered both front end and back end. I created many internal features of our intranet to allow the company to run smoothly such as resource management, asset and company procedure systems. Along with my internal work i also worked on many of our existing sites updating the front end UI.
While at Submission Technology I have refined my PHP and sever side skills along with a good understating of Object Oriented Programming. We mainly build our systems on the CodeIgniter framework.
Interactive Red employed me in February 2014 with a basic understanding on HTML and CSS. After learning the key components of HTML and CSS I went on to learn Javascript and jQuery, and within a few months I was using my new skills everyday within the development team creating parts of sites to help the senior developers.
I was soon set on the road of learning PHP with the help of my team leader and the great online training service "Tree House". Once I felt comfortable tackling basic tasks involving PHP I went on to mySQL and learning how to retrieve, update and create data in databases. With the basics under my belt I started to take on full projects from start to finish and as a support agent I also had the role of fixing any issues after delivery and maintaining sites for our clients. At Interactive Red we mainly used our in house developed "Parprika" CMS, but a few of the projects that I developed were on the Magento CMS platform.
In 2014 I started to venture into freelance Web Development, and created a few wesites for both commercial and non profit clients. Feel free to have a look at my website Dynamic Carrots.
I have ridden bikes since I was 16, mainly riding on the road but I have recently purchased a dirt bike and have fun riding the old roads of Kent known as byways. These lanes can take you to remote places that you would not normally get to see by car or larger vehicles.
I have always been interested in photography and love to experiment with my photographs in Photoshop to make the most of them. I have a small portfolio of my work on Flicker
Below are some examples of my work at Interactive Red and also some freelance work.
Front end user interface CSS and HTML, CMS integration, jQuery movements and bespoke CMS module to allow the client to add each panel in the CMS. Still under development.
Templateing of entire site and shop pages, partial Magento integration and install of custom Magneto plugins.
Templateing of shop section, full Magento integration and fully responsive CSS with interactive menu system. Still under development.
Templateing front end user interface, CMS integration, fully interactive and client CMS training meeting.
Freelance work, full design work, integration with WordPress CMS and jQuery movements.
This is my personal site to premote my freelance work. Take a look around.
